SUPPORT The Gulf Coast Civic Works Act
Learn More / Donate / Take Action

Nearly three years after Hurricane Katrina and Rita, victims remain scattered across the country, communities continue to suffer from crumbling roads. unclean water and schools, hospitals, and police stations are no where to be in found in the places people used to call home. Moreover, there is still the threat of an inadequate flood system. The result is an American human crisis.

The Gulf Coast Civic Works Act will create a regional authority to fund resident led recovery projects creating good jobs and training opportunities for local and displaced workers rebuilding infrastructure and restoring the environment. The bill uses a human rights-based approach empowering residents to
realize their right to return with dignity and safety, to revitalize the local workforce and infrastructure and create economically, socially and environmentally sustainable communities.
